This cosmopolitan home is situated on Brundage Lane in Norcross’ revitalized historic west end neighborhood. Maria and Alec Schendzelos have paid careful attention to every detail in their custom home.

Maria, an interior and floral designer, grew up in a historic house in Athens, Georgia. She and Alec raised their family in Charleston and have incorporated her southern roots and their mutual love of the Lowcountry into the décor.

Step into the elegant front room and you will immediately feel the warmth of this
gracious home as the portraits of Maria (left) and her mother (right) seem to welcome you as you enter. Then continue your tour to experience how the thoughtful placement of antiques and art showcase the interior of this stunning home.

In the hallway a large, elegant butler’s pantry is illuminated by a Victorian ceiling light fixture (electrified in the 1920’s) that came from Maria’s childhood home. Continue through to the great room, where the decor seamlessly blends antiques, art, and contemporary furnishings – including a painting over the mantle from the 2006 Southern Living Idea Home, which Maria helped design. Turn around and enjoy the splendor of a well-appointed cook’s kitchen accented with art, oversized glass tile, and honed marble counters. Then climb the wide staircase to discover upstairs rooms personalized with family photographs, historic maps, and memorabilia honoring the family’s military heritage.

Something special awaits you at every turn in this delightful home so don’t miss the trolley ride to the west end of town!
