The Gordon House - Circa 2000
409 North Peachtree St.
This vintage-styled house blends seamlessly with the historic homes surrounding it -- although it was built in 2000! Even an historic preservation expert believed that the house’s exterior had architectural aspects dating back to the turn of the 20th century because of the first floor windows, twin gables, and porch -- all of which sport craftsman bungalow features.
Jane and Terry Gordon are the second owners of this house, which was designed to emulate an historic home in Eufaula, Alabama. Their thoughtful blending of new furnishings and family heirlooms, accented by memorabilia and art from their world travels, has created a comfortable elegance throughout their three-story home. The Gordons have added their own special touches, such as back-to-back built in bookcases that are shared between the living room and hallway. In removing the screened porch they expanded the great room, which includes stunning views of the lovely, deep, landscaped garden and remodeled shed that is now a playhouse for the Gordon’s grandchildren.
The kitchen, complete with bead board accents, tiled hutches, and a farm sink, is a perfect home for Jane’s whimsical teapot collection. And…don’t miss the downstairs five-room suite which includes a stunning kitchen with all the amenities and an exquisitely decorated great room – all designed for a first-class guest experience!
The warmth of the flickering gas lantern on the porch beckons you to enjoy this gracious home that has the look and feel of an authentic turn-of-the-century classic.
